Sarawak Scenes and Sounds

Sarawak is a land of rivers, mountain ranges, forests and a long coastal stretch and estuaries that is washed by the South China Sea. For the last two years, I have been travelling the only highway that runs through the interior length and breath of Sarawak from the south i.e. Kuching to the north - Miri. In between the two cities there are many small and even tinier towns. On one of those trips I droped by at the town of Sarikei. Below is a video of the Sarikei Express Boat Terminal. Express boats are commercial passenger boats that ply the many big rivers of Sarawak carrying goods and passengers from and to the remote and inaccessible places in Sarawak ( along river systems) that are not connected to the Pan Borneo Highway. ( Inset: Sarawak's popular tourism product- the multi-layered cake called 'Kek Lapis Sarawak')
