Nothing Should Go to Waste

I saw this fine example of recycling today when I dropped by at one of the booths participating in an innovation and creativity festival in Kuching. From rolled waste glossy magazine papers you can indeed make a business of creating waste paper baskets, small containers ( coin boxes, pencil boxes ) and I saw in the form of a lamp shade too. Creativity comes in most unexpected ways.

The Wonder and Wanders of Cats

Cats do wonder and wanders. Inul was out in the garden and came home with a pawful of success. Daisy couldn't stand the heat outside. Sarawak for the last week has been facing the annual haze problem and the air population index for the last week has risen to dangerous levels, but not yet hazardous to health ( API reading of 180 in a few towns) To counter the heat Daisy rolled herself up in the sink. A pretty good idea.

What ideas are Daisy up to next?

"Let's see. Aha... I prefer fospa to do the thinking", Daisy said as she concentrated on reading between the lines. Oh ,yes ! Another thing, do not forget to include journal articles in the list of references. Yes, peer-reviewed ones. Well. its just a reminder ". "Thanks Daisy , you're a real help".

"I don't read sentences. I read between the lines ". So says Daisy.

Long Boat Race - Sarawak Style

In Sarawak we call it as 'Lumba Perahu' or Long Boat Race. The just concluded regatta at the Kuching Waterfront was an interesting event for the year as it was held in conjunction with the official opening of the new Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building or in short DUN (' Dewan Undangan Negeri' in Malay). The normally still waters of the Sarawak River was turned into a playground for the regatta races of which the main attraction in Sarawak is the long boat race which is paddled by 20-30 paddlers depending on the type of boat and the category of the competition. The Sarawak Regatta is a yearly event held at the Kuching Waterfront. Below are two videos I took that capture the mood and thrilling moments at the Regatta.
